Planning my wedding and obsessed about the dress

Planning my wedding and obsessed about the dress

The romance starts like this:
First, you spot your perfect match across the room. Your pupils dilate, your breath catches. Then you step closer, hesitant, afraid of being let down. But something has caught your eye and your imagination.Your heart beats faster. You suspect it’s love.

And then you try the dress on it’s perfect. Suddenly, your new infatuation is all you can talk about. No wonder your fiance is feeling a little left out.
When I was planning my wedding, I obsessed about the dress for a long time. I had a picture in my head of what I wanted to look like kind of Grace Kelly meets calla lily which actually only made it more difficult to find what I was looking for. I went to the library and researched old fashion magazines on microfilm; I camped out on the couch of a friend who works in advertising, pawing through boxes of pages she’d ripped out of magazines; I came home to my fiance, disconsolate and distracted, still worrying about the dress. (And worse, a dress I didn’t even want to discuss with him.)
But of course, I finally found it. And it was perfect. I still love it deeply and passionately, even though it’s preserved and put away in my parents’ home.

And yes, I still love my husband deeply and passionately and in other, newer, more secret ways I couldn’t have imagined at the time. Our relationship survived my little fling with bridal fashion, and so will yours. Especially since, in this issue, we have enough fashion for both of you: incredibly stylish formal wear for him, and for you, all the newest dresses of them right off the runway, ready to leap into your heart.
